Attracting retirees is not the way to develop your league – UEFA President

UEFA President, Aleksander Ceferin said buying retiring players to play in leagues in United States, Saudi-Arabia and other countries is not the best way to develop football.

He made this comment on a cable interview on Monday.

Mr. Ceferin said the way to develop the league is to develop the football academies in the country and not buying expensive retirees from europe.

He however assured followers of football in europe that they have nothing to worry because they have not lost players like Ronaldo, Messi, Benzema, others but that they want to go and make money for retirement.

The UEFA President also disclosed that there is a time to win trophies and time to make money for retirement and that is what is presently happening.

Recalled that Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema have taken hundreds of millions of dollars to join Saudi Arabian clubs this year and similar offers were made to Lionel Messi and Luka Modrić, and others above the age of 35 in europe.
