Kenyan journalist, Ben Ahenda of Standard Media Group, said he is shocked that the Super Eagles of Nigeria Team B lost scandalously to the Sudan National Team at the ongoing CHAN Championship in Tanzania.
He made this assertion shortly after the Eric Chelle-led team lost to Sudan in their second match on Tuesday.
Ahenda claimed that the NLO players would have done better than their Nigerian Premier Football League, NPFL counterparts.
His words, “What has the Nigerian League achieved in the CAF Champions League in the last 10 years since Enyimba’s back-to-back wins in 2003 and 2004 seasons.
“I have been seeing very quality players for the past four years in different international competitions in Europe. When I asked, which players they are, I was told they play for NLO – the third tier league in Nigeria. So if the CHAN is to showcase the best of African players, then these NLO players who have been winning abroad should be in the Nigerian team,” he said.
Recalled that the Super Eagles Team B, which comprises players from the NPFL were walloped by 4-0, after losing by 1-0 in their first game to Senegal.
