Nasarawa State Governor, Engr. Abdullahi Sule, on Tuesday, declared the 2023 Batch B Stream 11 National Youth Service Corps’ Orientation Course closed.
During the closing ceremony of the three week-long National Orientation Course held at the Magaji Dan Yamusa NYSC Orientation Camp, in Keffi, Nasarawa State, the Governor told the 1,744 duly registered Corps Members in the State to maintain the tempo of resilience, respect and dedication to their fatherland and hard work displayed during the programme.
Represented by the State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development who doubles as Chairman, NYSC Governing Board, Nasarawa State, Hon. Jafaru Ango, Sule congratulated the Corps Members for successfully completing the first phase of the Scheme, giving them a path on the back for their worthy conduct throughout the exercise.
He charged the Corps Members to maintain the lessons, values and skills acquired during the Orientation Course as they get ready for life in the wider sphere of their service year.
Governor Sule reiterated that Corps Members must adhere to the Oath of Allegiance they swore during the swearing-in ceremony in respect to their place of postings, and accept wherever they would be posted and carry out their duties at their Place of Primary Assignment conscientiously.
Additionally, the Governor called on the Corps Members to be guided by the laws and dictates of the NYSC and to be worthy ambassadors of the Scheme, their various Academic Institutions and Families.
He admonished them to be security-conscious at all times and desist from acts, areas, and people that could post danger to their lives and safety.
While reassuring to prioritize the welfare and safety of the Corps Members throughout their service year in Nasarawa State, the Governor appealed to them to respect the cultures, beliefs and values of their host communities, and contribute their quota to the overall development of the society.
Earlier, the State Coordinator of the NYSC, Abdullahi Ahmad Jikamshi, congratulated the Corps Members for successfully completing one of the four cardinals of the Scheme.
He thanked Governor Abdullahi Sule for his continuous assistance to the Scheme and her members, assuring that they would continue to support the Governor and his administration to exceed all expectations.
Jikamshi also appreciated Keffi and its surroundings for providing enabling environment for the Scheme to thrive.
Out of the 1,744 graduating Corps Members deployed from the 36 States of the Federation and F.C.T., Abuja, 632 were men while 1,112 were women.
Among dignitaries in attendance at the closing ceremony were the Permanent Secretary, Nasarawa State Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, Chief Barr. Isaac Danladi; Emir of Keffi, HRH. Dr. Shehu Chindo Yamusa 111; Director of Youth Development, Nasarawa State Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, Mr. Haruna Viba; Heads of Military and Para-Military Agencies as well as Heads of Institutions and Organisations in Nasarawa State.
