The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Mr. Nyesom Wike said he is ready to step on toes of anybody that goes against the laws in the territory no matter who the person is.

He made this threat on his assumption of office as the FCT Minister on Monday at the FCT Administration office, Garki, Abuja.

The former minister of State for Education said his party and his successor, Governor of Rivers State, Sim Fubara is aware of his new appointment and they gave him the nod to go ahead, as against the comments made in some quarters. “I wrote to my party chairman, I wrote my governor and others and they all gave me the go-ahead…”

He further said, “I am ready to step on toes, so people should be ready for me. No matter the position you are occupying, if you have a land and you don’t develop it, and you are waiting for it to appreciate, I will collect it and give to the person that is ready to build.

“If you are building where you are not supposed to build, it will go down… Cattle will no longer be allowed to roam about in the territory, ” he threatened.

Meanwhile, residents of FCT including those working in FCT but residing at the outskirts and neighbouring States (Nasarawa and Niger) are very happy with the appointment of Wike.

They are optimistic that he will not only transform FCT but wipe out crime in the territory. They described the former minister, Bello Mohammed as dormant throughout his tenure and notes that Wike is the opposite of the former minister.

One of the residents, who simply gave his name as Daniel Adakole said, “We are happy to know that Wike is the new minister of FCT because of his performance in Rivers State. At least he will work and do well better than the former minister, Bello Mohammed who did not perform but good at returning money to government coffers every year.”

Recalled that before he became governor of Rivers State, Wike was a minister under former President Goodluck Jonathan, where he served as minister of State in the ministry of Education.
