Former Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Mr. Solomon Selcap Dalung has admitted that the ruling party, All Progressive Party, APC is a failure.

He made this claim while granting an interview on a live programme, Sunrise Daily on Channels Television on Tuesday morning.

Dalung, who is a lawyer, said he cannot exonerate himself from the failure of APC including the hardship people are presently experiencing in the country.

His words, “Can I exonerate myself from APC. I am a founding father of the APC. I went everywhere, that is why I will take responsibility for the failure of APC, even what they are doing today because if we have not convinced Nigerians and cause poor people to scratch cards and donate money, for us to bring APC into power, we will not be here. Till I die, I will not be able to exonerate myself from APC.”

The former minister who has since decamped to Social Democratic Party, SDP further said if he is offered a ministerial appointment, he will accept it on one condition, that he will be allowed to speak his mind anytime but if he is restricted from speaking, he will rather quit the job.

On why he posted his certificates on the social media, Dalung said, “I voluntarily made my credentials available for public scrutiny. The reason behind this decision stems from the ongoing intense international and national brouhaha surrounding the issue of academic credentials in Nigeria. The President of Nigeria and his political allies are going from one court to another in America and Nigeria regarding their credentials.

“Now, what is going on has made everyone in Nigeria who owns a certificate a suspect. I have also put my certificate out publicly. If anyone is not satisfied, they can also go to court to compel the University of Jos to release my transcript,” he concluded.

Barrister Solomon Selcap Dalung was minister of Youth and Sports Development, under President Muhammadu Buhari between 2015 and 2019.
