The stage is set for the first Independence U-19 Football tournament 2025, a premier youth football competition which is officially endorsed by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), the National Sports Commission (NSC), and the Federal Government of Nigeria.
The tournament which is set to form part of the various activities marking Nigeria’s 65th Independence Anniversary Celebration will commence with the Opening Ceremony billed on Thursday, 25th September 2025, at the popular Nyanya football pitch Mopol junction, Abuja.
The grand finale is set to take place on Wednesday, 1st October 2025 at the Main bowl of the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja.
Various teams from across Nigeria will be participating in the tournament which has been categorized into 2 zones – Zone A and Zone B.
The Nyanya Football Pitch will play host to the games for Zone A while the football pitch at Area 3 will host the games for Zone B.
The tournament is expected to serve as a unique national springboard for young players to showcase their talent before professional scouts and national team selectors.
It will also provide direct inclusion in Nigeria’s official Independence celebrations, bringing prestige and recognition, promotion of youth empowerment, unity, and patriotism through football, opportunities for career advancement, with exposure to both national and international football structures.
The Independence U-19 Football Cup tournament 2025, will not just a tournament, but a celebration of Nigeria’s youth and a symbol of renewed hope for our great nation, where we will be building a legacy of talent development, discipline, and unity through football.
