Newly-appointed Kaduna state commissioner for Sports, Prof. Benjamin Kumai Gugong last Saturday scooped two trophies on first day on office.

Prof. Gugong who was appointed on Friday and flew down to Abuja on Saturday the following day for the final of National Hockey Super League saw his teams winning the male and female final matches.

In the male category, the Kaduna team, known as Kada team defeated Police Machine by 4-2.

Also in the female category, Kada queens defeated Delta Queens by 2-1 to lift the trophy.

Speaking after the match, the sports commissioner said he was delighted to have won the two finals. He promised to support the team for them to maintain their present position in Hockey while also promising to give other sports in the State a facelift.

Incidentally, the two teams that won the matches were being handled by one coach, Ibrahim Baba Ndana.

Coach Ndana who was so happy to achieve that feat, said they will go back to their base and mount out strategies on how they can maintain their present status. “You know it is easier to get to the top but not easy to be there forever hence the need for us to go and strategise on what to do to achieve that.”
