Ogun Gov commends Ademola Aare as NRFF Schedules Athletes’, Technical Representatives Election for September 19

Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has praised the President of the Nigeria Rugby Football Federation (NRFF), Dr. Ademola Are, for his outstanding contributions to the successful organization of the 22nd National Sports Festival, “Gateway Games Ogun 2024.”

In a letter of appreciation, Governor Abiodun commended Dr. Are’s commitment, man-management skills, and leadership as a member of the Local Organising Committee (LOC), noting that his efforts helped set a new benchmark for the hosting of the festival.

“As a member of the LOC, you played an active role that raised the standard of the Games. The government and good people of Ogun State are proud of you and deeply appreciate the rare qualities you displayed before, during, and after the festival. This was a national assignment, and I am pleased to attest that you acquitted yourself creditably,” the governor wrote.

The Gateway Games, hosted in Abeokuta from May 16 to 30, 2025, have been widely acclaimed as one of the best-organized editions of the National Sports Festival in history.

Also. the Nigeria Rugby Football Federation (NRFF) has announced that elections into the positions of Athletes’ and Technical Representatives will take place on Friday, September 19, 2025.

According to a statement signed by the federation’s secretary, the polls will be conducted at the Media Centre of the MKO Abiola Stadium, Abuja.

The federation had earlier circulated information on the eligibility criteria and nomination forms for interested candidates, in line with recent guidelines issued by the National Sports Commission.

This election marks a significant step for the NRFF, as it is expected to be one of the smoothest transitions in recent memory, raising hopes of stability and renewed progress within the federation.
