Old Student pays back to Alma Mata

It was pay back time and celebration at Islamic High School, Orita-Basorun, Ibadan on Tuesday 7th November, 2023 at the commissioning of projects to mark the 50th birthday anniversary of an Alumnus, Engineer Dayo Akinyemi of 1989 Set.

The projects commissioned by the representative of the Honourable Commissioner for Education, L.I.E., Lukman Okesade included: 60 pairs of students furniture, 10 Teachers’ Tables, 30 Teachers’ Chairs, 5 Brand New Laptops, 10 Big Black Drums, 4 Dozens of Kettles and repairs and installation of new accessories for 15 c computers. Two newly renovated classrooms and one staff room were also commissioned. The cost of the projects were about N6 million Naira.

In addition to these, the celebrant also promised the provision of school uniform, bags and shoes for 25 promising students as well as yearly scholarship awards for overall best students in each class. He offered to provide credible mentoring links for Science students so they can be able to compete with their counterparts globally.

List of dignitaries at the event included the National President of the Old Students Association, Mr Lekan Popoola; immediate Past National President, Professor Ishaq Omotosho; the National Secretary, Mr Lateef Lawal; School Governing Board Chairman, Dr Ismaila Razaq; School Principal, Mr Fasasi Abdullah and other members of the 1989 set. The event took place at the school premises.
