President of the Nigerian Community in Cote d’ Ivoire, High Chief Michael Emeka Onwuchelu was once again honoured as Ambassador of Peace on Saturday.
The recognition was bestowed upon him by the Fédération Ouest Africaine pour la Réconciliation, la cohésion Sociale et le Développement (West African Federation for Reconciliation, Social Cohesion, and Development).


Before presenting the award, the President of (WAFRSCD), Mr. Kouda Salif said Chief Onwuchelu was recognized for his promotion of peace, resilience efforts in positive repositioning of Nigeria Community Cote d’ Ivoire, reconciliation and social development in Africa.
Speaking after receiving the award, Chief Onwuchelu said he is elated to be recognized. He said the award will spur him to continue to do more especially in the area of promoting peace both in Cote d’Ivoire and back home in Nigeria.
Similarly, the President of the Nigerian Community in Cote d’Ivoire warned Nigerians to decease from engaging in human trafficking and child prostitution.
He made this call when he and some of his Central Executives paid a working visit to Abengourou Region on Wednesday.
Chief Onwuchelu warned against the evil that is being perpetrated by some gangs of cartels, who are in the business of deceiving and extorting money, disguising as working in collaboration with the Nigerian Embassy.
He said, “The overbearing extortion was brought to my notice by the Chairman of Abengourou Region. With the co-operation of the Cote d’Ivoire Security Agency and the Procureur in Abengourou Region, three of the extorters were arrested, waiting for legal prosecution. An investigation is ongoing to apprehend their cohort in the crime. Their pictures and identities will soon be revealed, for Nigerians to take note of them.”

In the same vein, Chief Onwuchelu warned Nigerians living in Cote d’Ivoire to stay away from participating in the politics of Cote d’Ivoire.
“Remember to stay away from Cote d’Ivoire politics. Leave Cote d’Ivoire politics for them and politicians. Be a law-abiding Nigerian and obey the laws of Cote d’ Ivoire,” he advised.
On the entourage to Abengourou Region is the Secretary General of the Nigerian Community in Cote d’Ivoire, Chief Louis Ononiwu, who has been of tremendous support to his people (Imo State) and the Community at large.
