Lagos State Football Association chairman,, Barrister Seyi Akinwunmi said the era of doing things in secrecy in the glasshouse will be a thing of the past if he emerged as the president.
He made this disclosure during his unveiling of his intentions to run and his agenda for the position.
Akinwunmi who is also the the 1st Vice President of the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF said as long as you are holding public office, you are not expected to do anything in secret. “You must be accountable to the people and that is what I will bring on board.”
Barr. Seyi also disclosed that he is going to give every coach a chance whether he is home-based or foreign, colour won’t be a barrier as long as the person is qualified, sound and can do the job well. “The technical department will be allowed to do their job and come up with their report…”
He also said the same will apply for players whether they are based in the country or outside. “If the ones at home are better, of course they would be given the opportunity, we will not discriminate, everybody will be given equal opportunity.”
He further assured that he is going to run a transparent government where everyone will be given opportunity to excel.
Akinwunmi further revealed that somebody has already indicated interest in investing in the NFF if he emerged as the president. According to him, “We already have somebody who is ready to invest over N5b into the NFF, and the person is urging me to go and get the presidency so that the funds can be released.”
He concluded by ensuring that the football house will have data base of players and admistrators who have contributed to the development of football both in the past and present.. “As I speak to you now, the present NFF does not have data base and that is one of our agenda.”
