When Senator John Owan Enoh, otherwise known as JOE, was appointed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to head the Ministry of Sports Development, many saw him as a square peg in a round hole.

Ever since he assumed office, he has hit the ground running, traveling from one state to the other to see things for himself in order to know where to concentrate on.

Information from a reliable source has it that the Minister intended to start carrying out projects like the development of sports infrastructure, renovation works, sports development programme, grassroots programme, just to mention a few but funds have been his major concern.

Investigations revealed that the Minister on the assumption of office met empty treasure hence he is handicapped and cannot perform his duties and responsibilities effectively. We also heard that he has been using his personal money to run the office. It was alleged in some quarters that the permanent secretaries, who were in charge of the Ministry expended everything before he assumed office for expenses that are unexplainable.

The media men who are covering the Sports Ministry are already seeing the Minister as a misfit because of his inability to carry out any meaningful project or programme.

However, kudos must be given to the Sports Minister who has been using his personal money to carry out some renovation works at his Stadium’s office. He has transformed the offices and to crown it on, most of the equipment and facilities that were not functioning at the stadium before now are in top shape especially the generating sets.

It is belief that if funds are made available, the Minister will do exploits if his antecedents especially as a lawmaker are anything to go by.
