Ahead of the last match day of the round-robin, mini-league of the inaugural NPFL/DMF Preseason Super Cup 2022, the technical adviser of Rangers International F.C, Coach Abdul Maikaba, has assured the club’ numerous fans that he was optimistic of playing the championship match for the ultimate prize.
Speaking after watching his wards throw away a lone goal lead against 10-man Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) in Ikenne, Wednesday, the experienced gaffer described his side’s performances in the first two matches left much to be desired which he believes will be tackled in the match day 3 fixture against old-rivals, Bendel Insurance at Mobolaji Anthony Sports Arena (Onikan Water Front), Thursday.
“It’s very unfortunate that we find ourselves in the present position but I am very positive that we can still play the championship match with a big win against our last opponent, Bendel Insurance. I understand that we still have to depend on the result from the other match know our stand but we need to the needful against a strong Insurance of Benin. My player’ attitude in our last match was not too good but we have resolved amongst us to look forward with optimism,” stated Maikaba.
Enyimba currently seat comfortably on top on the four team log with six maximum points from two matches played closely followed by 3SC that have four points from same number of games with Rangers occupying the third position with a solitary point while Bendel Insurance bring up the rear without any point to show for their effort in the preseason tournament sponsored by Dozy Mmobuosi Foundation and organized by the NPFL
