Captain of the Super Eagles, Ahmed Musa has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to come over to Cote d’Ivoire, venue of the ongoing African Cup of Nations, AFCON to support them.

He made this call when the Minister of Sports Development, Sen. John Enoh had a zoom meeting with the Super Eagles players.

The captain who is yet to have a taste of playing in the ongoing AFCON in Cote d’Ivoire however assured the President, Minister and Nigerians that they will put in their best to ensure that the Super Eagles don’t only play the final but lift the trophy.

Earlier, the Minister of Sports Development expressed displeasure of President Tinubu on the way the Super Eagles played their last match against Guinea Bissau and charged them to double their efforts in the next match.

His words, “One of the reasons why I am having this conversation with you is because of the chat I had with Mr. President when I went to the Villa. I went to the Villa for something else and the President cornered me and said, we managed to qualify John. I said Your Excellency, that is how we will keep on going until we win the tournament.

“And he said tell our players that I wasn’t too impressed with their last match but now that they are off the group stage, they are going to impress me more and more. What that means is that the President is practically watching all your matches. The President is urging you to go all out in your next match against Cameroon…”

He concluded by urging the players to listen to their coach, Jose Peseiro and be more focused and if possible, they should do away with the distractions of the social media which might affect their pysche one way or the other especially from comments from angry fans.
