Wike flags off rehabilitation of Roads in Gwagwalada

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Barr. Nyesom Wike has flagged off the rehabilitation of Aguma Palace-Radio Nigeria-New Market Road in Gwagwalada Area Council on the 30th ,Oct 2024.

Addressing the people at the event Barr Wike said this project is aligning with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope Agenda.” This project aims to enhance infrastructure development in satellite towns.”

Wike expressed gratitude to area council chairmen for their support and emphasized the administration’s commitment to developing Nigeria and satellite towns. He urged residents to support the government and promised that development would continue regardless of party affiliations.

Wike encouraged the contractor to employ local youths and complete the project on time, ensuring that funds would not be a hindrance.

Also Speaking Wike delivered good news to the residents of Gwagwalada, announcing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s commitment to provide good drinking water for the area. Wike said “Mr. President is ready to make you all happy, that is why he is doing all these good things for you.” If you are happy mr president is happy.”

Minister Barr. Nyesom Wike emphasized the importance of timely completion, urging the contractor to utilize the dry season to expedite the project. He cautioned, “Take advantage of this dry season to complete the project as fast as possible, but let me warn you, I will not revalidate any project under the guise of ‘we discovered a valley during construction.’ I must see it with my own eyes. Coordinator and Director, take note. I am aware of all these potential issues before now, so no excuses will be entertained.”he said.

Given an overview of the project the coordinator Satellite Towns Development Department Hon Abdulkadir zulkiflu expressed his appreciation to the Minister for the infrastructural development which according to him is bridging the infrastructural gap in the satellite towns and improving development and alleviating the suffering of the residents and other roads users and impacting on the lives of the people which is in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of the present Administration’s mission.

Hon Abdulkadir expenciated on the scope of the project, saying the project was awarded to Messrs OKMAS NIG LTD on the 24th October, 2024,is to be completed within 12months, with standard engineering specifications as thus:
Construction of 10km road length, Site clearance and earthworks, thick lateritic sub-base, and thick crushed stone base – surface Asphaltic, binder course, and asphaltic wearing course,
Box and pipe culverts, trapezoidal concrete lined drain, access slabs, and culverts, installation of solar street lights.

The Coordinator in response to Wike’s request,he promised that he has capable engineers and everything possible will be put in place in making sure that comprehensive supervision is done to the standard adherence, to ensure timely delivery.

In affirmation to Wike’s request, the contractor Messrs OKMAS NIg Ltd promised to deliver the project before the 12-month deadline.” I will not disappoint in delivering,” he said.

At the event other dignitaries joined in the flags off were friends of wike former Senator Aduda, permanent secretaries and others praised Wike’s administration for developing the six area councils of the satellite towns.
